It is with great sadness and huge gratitude that we say goodbye to Marie Day who is retiring at the end of May. . Fully qualified at the age of 22, she became a director at 32 and a shareholder aged 37. Most recently Marie has been based at our Chester office advising owner-managed businesses. She has also used her experience to assist with the onboarding of new staff and clients to bennettbrooks systems and procedures when we have made practice acquisitions.
She has had significant involvement across the practice and has been a support to many, acting as a main board director and member of the operational leadership team. She has been passionate about practice compliance and consistency, committed to building and maintaining excellent relationships with her clients, engaged in supporting the Llandudno and Chester teams over the past five to seven years, and recently and most notably, acting as the practice’s QPRT (Qualified Person Responsible for Training). Keeping all the trainees on track, seeing them develop and successfully pass their exams has given her a tremendous sense of satisfaction.
On her decision to retire from the practice Marie commented “I started my training as a Chartered Accountant almost 37 years ago, and it has been an honour and a privilege to provide professional services to so many wonderful individuals and businesses over the years. I have thoroughly enjoyed the working relationships that have developed during that time. My decision to retire has not been an easy one to make. I am immensely proud of what I have achieved in my professional career, and I have been extremely fortunate to be part of the bennettbrooks journey to date. I have no doubt that the level of professional support and advice provided to our clients, and the opportunities and development we provide for all our staff will mean the business continues to flourish long after I leave.”
On learning of Marie’s retirement, one of her clients commented, “There is no doubt that yourself and the team at bennettbrooks have played a huge part in the success of our various businesses over the years, particularly when we sold one of the businesses. Wishing you a long and happy retirement”.
Managing Director Yvonne Wood echoed the client’s words “Marie has been integral in the success that bennettbrooks has achieved to date. She will be greatly missed by us all and we are very grateful for her dedication to the business and her many achievements during the past 25 years. We wish her a healthy, happy, and relaxing retirement”.
